　　I’m writing to support Dr. Li Hua for his application for a postdoctoral research associate position in your laboratory.

　　I am currently a staff scientist at St Jude children’s Research Hospital doing research in areas of stem cell biology, gene therapy and hematopoiesis. I had the pleasure to work with Li Hua in the same laboratory at the Beijing Institute of Basic Medical Sciences during the years of 1997-1999, when I was a research associate and Li Hua was a second year student pursuing his Masters Degree of Science.

　　Shortly after he started in the laboratory, I was deeply impressed by his sound mastering of basic knowledge in biomedical sciences. This was not quite a surprise because he graduated from one of the top universities in China. Li Hua quickly distinguished himself from other students in the Institute. He was very enthusiastic about finding answers to biomedical questions and quickly mastered a variety of experimental techniques. Most importantly, he worked very hard. Li HUa is one of the colleagues whom you would like to work with. He is always willing to help other people and get along very well with other colleagues.
