英语作文 篇6

Doing sports is very good for us, which makes us healthy, strong and happy.

First, doing sports can make you healthier and stronger. When I was a little child, I did not like sports. Because I thought they were all boring, I never do sports. At that time, I was always sick. Till one day, my friend told me a game, called “badminton”. He said that I could have a gift if I won. Then I played with him the whole afternoon. At last, I won and I got a gift! After that day, I always did some sports, and day by day, I was not easily to get sick. I became stronger and stronger.

Second, doing sports can help you get a lot of friends. When I was a little child, I always stayed at home. So I have got few frineds. When I started to play badminton, I saw a lot of children doing sports there. I tried to join them, and we played together. We all got well with each other, and I made lot of friends too.

Third, doing sports can relieve study pressure. Now, study is very important for us, we all need to work hard. We have less time to have a rest. So when we have time, we had better do some sports to relax.

Doing sports can help us be more clear-headed, so all of us should get some time to do sports.

英语作文 篇7

When you look at the sky on a clear day, it seems as if the earth is covered by a blue dome①. The sky is blue because of what happens to sunlight as it enters the earth's atmosphere. Sunlight is made up of light rays of all lengths. The longer rays make up red light and the shorter rays make up blue light. As sunlight enters the earth's atmosphere, it strikes the tiny molecules ② of air and is scattered③. The scattered light is made up mostly of violet④, blue, a little green, and a little yellow and red. The combination of these colors is sky blue.

Sometimes at sunset the sky looks red. The sunlight is coming toward you from a lower angle in the sky. The lower the sun, the longer is the path that the light rays must travel through the air. The shorter blue rays are scattered immediately when striking the molecules of air. The sunlight that you see lacks the blue and violet rays that the air has scattered. As the sun gets lower in the sky, the light rays must pass through more air,and so the longer orange and red rays also become scattered. At sunset, the shorter blue rays never get through the atmosphere, so you do not see them.

If you stand at a place where the surface of the earth is flat, the sky seems to meet the earth in any direction you look. The point at which the sky and the earth seem to“meet”is called the horizon. The horizon is at the same distance from you, no matter in what direction you look. If you walk toward the horizon, you do not get closer to it. No matter where you are, the surface of the earth curves ⑤ downward and away from you. The distance at which you can no longer see the earth's surface----because it has curved down too far----is the horizon.

英语作文 篇8

Calling for Safe Celebrations This Fourth of July June is Fireworks Eye Safety Awareness Month, and through its EyeSmart campaign the American Academy of Ophthalmology wants to remind consumers to leave fireworks to professionals. There is nothing worse than a Fourth of July celebration ruined by someone being hit in the eye a bottle rocket, said Dr. John C. Hagan, clinical correspondent for the Academy and an ophthalmologist at Discover Vision Centers in Kansas City. A safe celebration means letting trained professionals handle fireworks while you enjoy the show.

Even fireworks that many people consider safe represent a threat to the wyes. For children under the age of five, apparently harmless sparklers account for one-third of all fireworks injuries. Sparklers can burn at nearly 2,000 degrees Fahrenheit.

英语作文 篇9

When the Boeing 737 jetliner of Far Eastern Air Transport took off from Sungshan Airport on the morning of August 22, 1981, there was no sign that the worst air disaster was only ten minutes away. But at 10:10 a.m., people who lived in Miaoli heard an explosion-like noise and looked up to see the airplane disintegrate in midair. The newspapers reported next day that all 110 passengers aboard, including some Americans and Japanese, were killed; there was no survivor. The number of death is the largest of all air mishaps in Taiwan. This disaster should prompt us to reexamine our air travel safety measures. I think we have the right to ask the airline company to adhere strictly to standard aircraft maintenance. Unless an aircraft is properly maintained, there will be no safety to speak of. And I am sure we all hope that such a disastrous accident as this one will not be repeated again.
